Potassium Formate

Potassium formate is colorless transparent liquid or white solid, very easy to absorb moisture, with reducing properties, can react with strong oxidizing agents, density 1.9100g/cm3, soluble in water, saturated and the specific gravity of the solution is 1.58g/cm3, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Carbon monoxide and potassium hydroxide can be synthesized by heating together with potassium formate, further acidification and distillation obtained formic acid.
